My name is Bohuslav Remta, and I have been carving natural jewelry and miniatures – with short breaks – for over thirty years.
I primarily work with hard organic materials such as exotic and local hardwoods (especially ebony, boxwood, and fruit tree woods), as well as bone, antler, horn, and mother-of-pearl.
I create pieces such as pendants, amulets, earrings, bracelets, and brooches, as well as knives, figurines, and small decorative objects. Most of my work is small to miniature in size – pendants are usually around 3–5 cm – and is created both from my own imagination and on commission. I place great emphasis on practicality, so that each piece is not only beautiful but also comfortable to wear and can become a natural part of its owner’s everyday life.
My creations can be found not only in the Czech Republic, but also in the USA, Australia, France, England, Switzerland, Belgium, New Zealand, and Italy.
Of course, the most important aspect of my carving is the satisfaction of the client or future owner, but carving also represents a form of meditation for me – a never-ending journey of discovery, personal growth, and exploration of new materials, techniques, and self-improvement.
